Shelly Herbert is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and an Associate Professor within the College of Accounting at the University of Cape Town. She has been an academic within the College since 2009 and has taught various undergraduate financial reporting and business acumen courses, public sector financial reporting courses for postgraduate students, and honours and masters research method courses. She is a co-author of Financial Accounting: IFRS Principles, and Financial Accounting: Groups, textbooks. She holds a Masters in Commerce degree in Financial Accounting from the University of Cape Town and is currently a PhD candidate. She is an active researcher and supervisor in the fields of integrated reporting, sustainability reporting and environmental, social and governance (ESG).
